A Van Perrin Albatross Caps off Superb Spring Season!
|
Exactly what is a Van Perrin Albatross you might ask? An exotic cocktail perhaps... or a type of bird? No, no, no. Something far more unique and very rare indeed. First off, Van Perrin is an excellent amateur golfer from Houston, TX. It so happens that Van played in ALL SEVEN of our Pro-Ams this season. (That's unprecedented) The final event of the 2019 Spring portion of our schedule took place in Las Vegas in March. On the final day of our final event, I guess Van wanted to make a statement, so for his second shot on the Par 5 first hole at the Arroyo Course at Red Rock he "feathered" a 3 wood from 255 yards away... and holed it for a 2! Yes, a double eagle, aka an "Albatross", which is more rare than even a hole in one! Note: Van explained that he "feathered" the 3 wood because it was playing downwind, and he expected the ball to run out a bit. Unfortunately for Van, it was a blind shot as well, and he did not see it go in the cup, but his partners saw it... and the rest is history! By the way, Van's team finished second that day!
